Study Design Overview

VCE Psychology applies a scientific approach to understanding human behaviour and mental processes. Students explore how biological, psychological and social factors shape the way we think, feel, learn and remember. The subject develops skills in research design, data analysis and applying psychological models to real-life scenarios. Units 1 and 2 investigate biological influences on behaviour, the brain, external social influences and memory, while Units 3 and 4 examine the nervous system, states of consciousness, learning, memory, mental health and wellbeing. The subject is assessed through SACs and a VCAA written examination that includes 50 multiple choice questions, short answer and extended response. Psychology is popular across a wide range of tertiary pathways including medicine, nursing, education and social work. Excelerate offers extensive VCE Psychology practice questions with AI-generated hints and answer verification to sharpen your exam technique.
